A delegation from the labour wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Labour Commissioner at the New Secretariat Building, demanding relief and rehabilitation measures for families affected by the Anandapur fire tragedy. The party simultaneously organised a large protest march and condemnation rally, alleging exploitation of workers and neglect of labour welfare.
The procession began at Millennium Park and proceeded towards the New Secretariat, drawing participation from senior leaders of the party’s labour organisation. The rally was attended by the All-India President of the BJP’s labour wing, Arnab Chatterjee, along with the state president and other prominent leaders, who addressed supporters during the march.
The primary demand placed before the administration was that at least one member of each deceased worker’s family be provided with a government job along with adequate financial compensation. Party leaders asserted that immediate steps must be taken to support affected families and ensure accountability in connection with the incident.
