BJP leader murders wife at girlfriend's behest; cops arrest both

BJP leader Rohit Saini has been arrested for the killing of his wife, Sanju, in Rajasthan's Ajmer. The murder, which occurred on August 10, was initially staged as a robbery before a swift and meticulous police investigation unraveled a conspiracy orchestrated at the insistence of Saini's long-time girlfriend, Ritu Saini. The quick breakthrough, made within just 24 hours, has brought a tragic end to what appeared to be a random act of violence.

The case came to light when Sanju was found dead under suspicious circumstances. In his initial statement to the police, Rohit Saini fabricated a story, claiming that robbers had broken into their home, murdered his wife, and fled with valuables. However, investigators from the very beginning were skeptical of his account, noticing significant contradictions and inconsistencies in his testimony.

Additional SP Rural Deepak Kumar credited the rapid solving of the case to intensive questioning. The police's focused interrogation, combined with the evidence from the crime scene, quickly exposed the holes in Rohit's story. Under pressure from the police, he eventually confessed to the crime, admitting that he had personally killed his wife and that the robbery narrative was a lie intended to mislead the authorities.

Police revealed that the two had been in a relationship for several years, and they saw Sanju as an insurmountable obstacle to their desire to be together. Officers stated that Ritu had put "pressure" on Rohit to "remove Sanju from the way," a phrase that captures the sinister nature of their conspiracy.

In a dramatic turn of events, the police also arrested Ritu Saini, confirming her direct involvement in planning the murder. Her arrest highlights her role in the premeditated nature of the crime and the psychological manipulation that led to it.
