BJP likely to invite Biman Bose and Mamata Banerjee to Bengal swearing-in ceremony at Brigade Ground

Preparations are underway at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP government in West Bengal scheduled for Saturday morning on 25th Boishakh. The oath-taking ceremony is expected to begin around 11 AM and will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior BJP leaders, Union ministers and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states across the country.

According to sources, the guest list for the ceremony includes political leaders, industrialists, cultural personalities and distinguished guests from different sectors. Invitations are also expected to be extended to leaders from opposition parties in West Bengal as part of political convention. Veteran Left leader and Left Front chairman Biman Bose may receive an invitation, while former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also expected to be invited in keeping with established protocol.

The BJP is also planning cultural programmes as part of the swearing-in ceremony, which is being held on Rabindra Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Sources indicated that a Rabindra Sangeet performance may take place before the oath-taking begins. National Award-winning singer Iman Chakraborty is reportedly being considered for the performance, although no official confirmation has been issued regarding the programme lineup.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah has been holding meetings with senior BJP leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari and state BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya, regarding the formation of the new government. According to party sources, discussions are focused on finalising the cabinet structure, selecting the Chief Minister and deciding the names of ministers who may take oath at Brigade Parade Ground. Speculation also continues regarding the possible appointment of one or more Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government.

Later in the day, Amit Shah and other senior BJP leaders are scheduled to attend a meeting with newly elected BJP MLAs at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town. Sources indicated that the name of West Bengal’s next Chief Minister may be formally announced during the legislative party meeting. Shah, who arrived in Kolkata earlier in the day and visited Dakshineswar Kali Temple after landing at the airport, is expected to remain in the city until the swearing-in ceremony concludes on Saturday.
