BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A major incident of political violence was reported from Haroa in North 24 Parganas district ahead of the assembly elections, where BJP leader Arvind Biswas was allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants. The incident occurred late Tuesday night and has triggered fresh political tensions in the area.
According to reports, Arvind Biswas, the BJP president of Haroa Mandal, was returning home on his motorcycle after completing organisational work when he was ambushed in a secluded area. The attackers allegedly stopped him on the road and assaulted him using sticks and rods, leaving him seriously injured.
Following the incident, the BJP leadership directly accused Trinamool Congress-backed goons of carrying out the attack. Party leaders claimed that the assault was politically motivated and demanded strict action against those responsible for the violence. The Trinamool Congress, however, has strongly denied the allegations and rejected any involvement in the attack. Police have started an investigation into the incident, and security has reportedly been tightened in the area amid rising political tension ahead of the elections.
