BJP MP from Tamluk, Abhijit Ganguly, is in critical condition and was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on Thursday for advanced medical treatment. Ganguly, a former judge, has been suffering from gastro-intestinal sepsis and was admitted to a private hospital in New Alipore since the night of June 14 after experiencing severe stomach pain and repeated vomitingDespite being in intensive care since his admission, his health did not show significant improvement. Consequently, on the advice of medical experts, the decision was made to transfer him to AIIMS, Delhi, for specialized care. He departed from Kolkata at approximately 4 PM on Thursday via a special air ambulance provided by the central government, accompanied by a medical team.
Doctors attending to Ganguly explained that gastrointestinal sepsis is a serious condition often triggered by a severe infection in the digestive tract. If germs enter the intestines, it can lead to widespread inflammation, affecting various organs and weakening the body's immune system. Symptoms include persistent diarrhea, vomiting, disruption of blood circulation, and potential organ failure if not treated promptly and effectively. These infections can enter the body through contaminated food or the respiratory tract, becoming critical when they spread to the body's cells.
Abhijit Ganguly, elected as a BJP MP from Tamluk, had gained prominence for his judicial pronouncements before entering politics. His critical condition and transfer for specialized treatment highlight the severity of his illness. Medical professionals will continue to monitor his condition closely at AIIMS Delhi.
