BJP MP and former judge Abhijit Ganguly was admitted to a private hospital in Alipur on Saturday night after his health deteriorated suddenly. The 62-year-old lawmaker began vomiting and complained of intense stomach pain at home, prompting an immediate medical response.
Doctors from both the medicine and surgery departments are attending to him, and his condition is currently reported to be somewhat stable. According to hospital staff, he experienced repeated vomiting episodes and sharp abdominal pain before being brought in. All necessary tests are underway to determine the exact cause.
Though the doctors have yet to give a definitive diagnosis, initial observations suggest the episode may be linked to heat exhaustion and dietary issues. Ganguly’s age-related vulnerabilities are also being factored into the medical evaluation. He remains under close observation.
The MP's sudden illness comes amid intense summer heat in Kolkata, which has led to an uptick in cases of dehydration, heatstroke, and food-related ailments across the city.
