BJP office vandalized as Ratna Chatterjee and Indranil Khan face off in Behala's Parnasree

A volatile situation erupted in the Behala West constituency on Sunday as supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in a heated confrontation. The trouble began near Parnasree Airport when TMC workers attempted to put up posters for their candidate, Ratna Chatterjee. BJP supporters reportedly intervened, leading to a physical scuffle. Allegations quickly surfaced that TMC workers responded by vandalizing a local BJP office and tearing down posters of their candidate, Indranil Khan.

The tension escalated further when both candidates reached the Parnasree police station simultaneously. Indranil Khan arrived with CCTV footage of the alleged vandalism, demanding immediate police action against the "TMC goons." As Ratna Chatterjee entered the premises, BJP supporters launched a massive protest, surrounding her vehicle and shouting slogans. The situation became so uncontrollable that the police were forced to form a human chain to separate the two warring factions and prevent a full-scale riot.

BJP candidate Indranil Khan has directly accused Ratna Chatterjee of leading the attack on their party office. He claimed that the vandalism occurred in the presence of police officers who remained "silent spectators." Conversely, the TMC leadership dismissed the claims as a "staged drama" by the BJP to gain sympathy before the polls, asserting that their workers were merely exercising their right to campaign when they were initially provoked.

By late Sunday evening, the Parnasree area remained under heavy police surveillance. While no major injuries were reported, the psychological divide between the two parties has deepened significantly.
