In the wake of violent incidents reported from Dhuliyan and Samserganj, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a dedicated control room at its Puratuli office in Malda. The initiative, aimed at providing assistance and support to victims of alleged atrocities, was formally inaugurated by state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar.
Addressing party workers and media during the inauguration, Majumdar stated that the control room would work as a legal, logistical, and emotional support centre for the affected families. “Our goal is to stand by the victims, ensure their voices are heard, and facilitate justice,” he said.
The violence in Dhuliyan and Samserganj has triggered political tension in the region. Multiple families have alleged targeted attacks and intimidation, prompting the BJP to step up its outreach. The control room will reportedly function round-the-clock and coordinate with local units for immediate response.
Party leaders claimed that the Trinamool Congress government has failed to act decisively in curbing political violence. “If the state administration won’t help, we will,” said a local BJP worker stationed at the newly launched help centre.
Victims or their family members can reach the control room through a dedicated phone line and also in person at the party office. Legal aid, medical support, and arrangements for temporary shelter are among the services the BJP claims to be offering.
While the initiative has been welcomed by BJP supporters, the ruling Trinamool Congress has dismissed it as a political stunt. However, for many affected families, any assistance could be a crucial lifeline as they seek safety and justice.
