The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday distanced itself from controversial remarks made by actor-MP Kangana Ranaut, who linked the farmers' protest to potential unrest similar to that in Bangladesh. The party issued a stern statement clarifying that Ranaut’s views do not reflect the party’s stance and emphasized their commitment to social harmony.
In its statement, the BJP said, “BJP MP Ms Kangana Ranaut's statement on farmers' protest is not the party's stand. The Bharatiya Janata Party disagrees with the remark made by Ms Kangana Ranaut. Neither Ms. Kangana Ranaut is permitted to speak on policy issues of the BJP, nor she is authorised to do so.”
The party further directed Ranaut to refrain from making such statements in the future, reiterating their motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas Aur Sabka Prayaas.”
Earlier, Kangana Ranaut had sparked controversy by claiming in a video shared on her X handle that the farmers' protest could have led to a situation similar to that in Bangladesh if not for the decisive actions of the Modi government. Her remarks were met with criticism, prompting the BJP to issue the reprimand.
