5,000 Pakistani soldiers resign amid fear of Indian retaliation
BJP leader Amit Malviya has alleged that the West Bengal government is removing Hindu names from the voter list while enrolling Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals, particularly in border districts. He claimed that in Nadia district, a block development officer (BDO) initiated the removal of 98 Hindu voters based on a request from a Muslim individual. Malviya made this claim through a tweet, stating that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is manipulating electoral rolls.
He further alleged that this action is being taken under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s direction to consolidate Muslim vote banks. “Mamata Banerjee has the support of Muslim voters and is weakening Hindu voters through such actions,” Malviya tweeted. He also claimed that Hindu refugees who migrated to India from Pakistan and Bangladesh due to religious persecution are being deliberately targeted and removed from the electoral roll in several districts.
Malviya linked this development to TMC’s opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that the state government had earlier fueled protests against the law but could not prevent its implementation. He alleged that voter list revisions are now being used to pressure Hindu refugees who wish to apply for citizenship under CAA. The BJP leader also referred to official notices issued in Bagda (SC) Assembly constituency of Bangaon district, where Matua community members have reportedly been removed from the voter list.
The BJP has demanded an independent probe into the alleged voter list manipulations. The party has also urged the Election Commission to intervene and ensure that the names of genuine Indian citizens are not removed. No official response has been issued by the West Bengal government or election authorities regarding these allegations.
