Proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly were disrupted after BJP legislators staged a walkout, demanding an apology from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The protest led to disruption during the early part of the sitting, affecting the smooth conduct of House business.
The BJP members raised the issue vociferously, insisting that the Chief Minister apologise over the matter in question. As the protest intensified, sloganeering continued inside the House, creating an atmosphere of disorder and prompting intervention from the Chair.
Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim attempted to pacify the protesting members and urged them to allow the Question Hour to proceed. He appealed to the BJP leaders to raise their concerns at an appropriate time, suggesting that the matter be taken up when the Chief Minister is present in the House.
Despite the Speaker’s repeated requests, BJP members remained adamant and eventually walked out of the Assembly. The walkout further delayed proceedings, highlighting continued political tensions in the House over the issue.
