Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Kolkata on the occasion of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's 150th birth anniversary is not pleasing the ruling party Trinamool Congress.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee's special minority minister and Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakeem have raised questions about Shah's visit. He has alleged that the BJP wants to use Gurudev politically. Thakurbari of Jodasan in Kolkata where Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was born.
Firhad arrived there before Amit Shah's visit to Thakurbari and paid tribute by offering garlands. After that he said that politics is happening in view of Lok Sabha elections. Through Gurudev they want to touch the sentiments of Bengali community but people are not that stupid. He said that Rabindranath Tagore had talked about everyone being united, talking about seeing everyone with one eye but today they (Amit Shah and BJP) are doing politics of division. If true dedication towards Gurudev is in him then BJP should do the kind of politics he talked about with good will.
It is noteworthy that Amit Shah, who arrived in Kolkata on Gurudev Jayanti, has not made any political statement yet.
A day earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had raised questions about Shah's visit to Kolkata when she spoke to the media at the state secretariat. He had said that Manipur is burning in the fire of violence. As Home Minister Shah should go there first but he has to do politics.
