No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A violent incident broke out near the Shrirampur Railway station ticket counter on Wednesday night when a local BJP worker, Royan Das, was brutally attacked by a group of anti-social elements. The conflict began when Royan reportedly confronted individuals operating an illegal gambling (satta) den near the railway premises. When he attempted to stop the illegal activity, the miscreants launched a murderous assault on him, leaving him in a pool of blood.
Royan Das was immediately rushed to Shrirampur Walsh Hospital in a critical condition. According to medical staff, the victim sustained severe head injuries and required multiple stitches. The news of the attack spread quickly, leading to significant tension in the Champdani Assembly area. Several senior BJP leaders visited the hospital on Friday to monitor his condition and condemned the "lawlessness" prevalent in the region.
BJP state leader Kishan Saw launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that such illegal gambling and betting rackets are flourishing under the direct protection of the local administration and TMC "mafia." Saw claimed that when an honest worker like Royan stood up against the social evil, he was targeted for elimination. He further warned that the TMC would have to account for "every drop of blood" spilled by their workers.
