A 21-year-old youth, Gopal Moni, died after being brought to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Monday night following a train accident. The incident occurred between Bidhannagar and Dum Dum stations, near the Dakshindari area. Gopal, a resident of Dakshindari, had sustained serious injuries after being hit by a train and was taken to the hospital’s trauma care centre.
According to the family, after reaching the hospital, a security guard at the trauma unit allegedly informed them that a hospital ticket must be made before treatment could be initiated. Despite bleeding from the head and face, the youth was reportedly left unattended for a long time. Gopal died soon after, while still awaiting medical attention, as claimed by his relatives.
Following his death, the victim’s family members staged a protest inside the hospital premises. Police and CISF personnel posted at the hospital intervened and brought the situation under control. No official response has been issued by the hospital authorities regarding the incident. As of now, no formal complaint has been lodged by the family.
