A case has been registered against BlinkIt after button knives, used in two separate murder cases, were traced back to the online grocery platform. Delhi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) after accused individuals in West Delhi confessed to purchasing the knives through BlinkIt.
During the investigation, police posed as customers and bought the same knife, which exceeded legal limits. Under government regulations, online sales of knives must have blades up to 7.62 cm, but the knife in question measured 8 cm by 2.5 cm. Following this, police raided several BlinkIt dark stores in Delhi and seized over 55 knives priced at Rs 699.
This action follows last month’s controversy when BlinkIt was criticized for its 10-minute delivery model, which faced public backlash over delivery partner safety. In January, the government had directed e-commerce platforms like BlinkIt to drop aggressive delivery timelines, a move that saw BlinkIt revise its tagline from 10-minute delivery to a broader focus on doorstep service.
