Heavy rain triggered a flash flood in Himachal Pradesh that blocked the Tandi-Killar-26 state highway at Dared Nala, officials said on Tuesday.
“Today, June 27, 2023 at 07:50 hours, as per information received from Lahaul-Spiti District Disaster Management Office, Pangi-Killar Highway (SH-26) has been blocked due to flash flood at Dared Nala.”, tweeted SDRF from Himachal Pradesh.
According to the Public Works Minister, over 300 roads have been blocked in the state due to incessant rain.
Earlier on Monday, the India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for the next 24 hours in the state.
"Under the leadership of our chief minister we are well prepared for any eventuality, there has been a rain alert in the state for the last two or three days. 301 roads are closed in the state. This rain has caused a loss of 27 million rupees in condition. Restoration is underway, it will be open by tonight 180 roads and tomorrow on 27th we will restore 15 roads.
And in next two days another 106 roads will be opened.We will start the contact number as hipline by this evening.Also we have identified nearly 350 places which are prone to landslide and are exposed to preventive major actions, we will ensure that people did not go there. One of our workers died on the spot yesterday, people will also have to be We have also deployed 390 machines to restore roads. We will ensure that all roads are restored," said Vikramaditya Singh, Minister of Public Works.
The Minister of Public Works said that the restoration is being done on a war footing. He said the state government has identified more than 350 vulnerable hot spots in the state which are prone to landslides.
