Blood-soaked body of hawker found in waterbody

A blood-soaked body was recovered from a waterbody in Mukundapur under Magrahat police station on Monday, creating panic in the area. According to local sources, the deceased has been identified as Sahahuddin Malik (45). His house is located in the Mukundapur area under the jurisdiction of Magrahat police station. Sahahuddin was a hawker by profession, primarily buying and selling old items in Kolkata and nearby areas.

On Monday afternoon, local residents spotted a body floating in a waterbody in Mukundapur. Reports suggest that the body bore multiple injury marks. The deceased's family claims that he was murdered in a premeditated manner. They have lodged a complaint against a trader named Shahrul Molla. However, following the incident, Shahrul Molla and his family have gone missing. The Magrahat police are currently investigating the case. The initial suspicion of the police is that this murder could be a result of business rivalry.

It has been reported that the body has been recovered and sent for post-mortem to the Diamond Harbour police morgue. Local residents claimed that when they were heading to their fields on Monday afternoon, they saw a body floating in the water. Immediately, they informed the Magrahat police station, and upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene.

Magrahat police have recovered the body and have started an investigation, including a post-mortem examination. The deceased's family insists that his murder was premeditated. A few days ago, local businessman Shahrul Molla had allegedly threatened Sahahuddin Malik over the sale of an old item. The family demands strict punishment for the culprits. However, Shahrul Molla has been absconding since the incident. Magrahat police have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused.

In this regard, the deceased's wife, Najma Malik, stated, "A few days ago, Shahrul Molla had threatened my husband with death over an incident of theft at his shop. And now, this has happened. I demand strict punishment for the guilty." Meanwhile, Magrahat police station's officer-in-charge, Piyush Kanti Mandal, confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem. "We are also searching for the person against whom the family has lodged a complaint. The investigation is still in its early stages, but we hope to arrest those involved in the incident soon," he stated.
