Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Metro services were briefly disrupted on Saturday after a suicide attempt was reported on the up line at Kalighat Metro station, causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters during peak hours. The incident occurred at around 1:06 pm, leading to an immediate suspension of normal operations and confusion among passengers waiting on platforms and inside trains.
Following the incident, authorities initiated an urgent rescue operation, and services were truncated between Maidan and Dakshineswar, as well as between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Sahid Khudiram stations. During this period, several commuters reported that there was no immediate public announcement, adding to the chaos and uncertainty. Passengers were left stranded for nearly 15 minutes, with many expressing frustration over the lack of communication.
The sudden disruption led to overcrowding at stations and delays in travel plans, particularly affecting office-goers and daily commuters. With trains halted and limited movement allowed, people were forced to wait without clear updates, highlighting the impact of such incidents on public transport systems.
Metro services were eventually restored around 1:29 pm after the situation was brought under control. Authorities resumed normal operations once the rescue process was completed, bringing relief to stranded passengers, though the brief disruption underscored the challenges faced during emergency situations in high-density transit networks.
