A body was recovered early Wednesday morning from the Panagarh Fish Market in the Kanksa block of West Bardhaman district, causing shock among local traders and residents. The body was first spotted by vendors who had arrived to open the market and immediately alerted the police. Officers from Kanksa Police Station later reached the spot and recovered the body.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Gopal Roy, a resident of Kanaipada area under Canal Para in Kanksa. Local sources and family members stated that he had a history of heavy alcohol consumption. The body was sent for necessary procedures after recovery from the market premises.
Police have stated that no visible injury marks were found on the body at the time of recovery. The exact circumstances leading to the death remain unclear, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of death.
