A sensational incident mirroring recent grim discoveries in Bengal has triggered widespread panic in Howrah's Amta and Uluberia regions. On Sunday morning, May 17, 2026, the body of an unidentified elderly man was found stuffed inside a large black trolley bag dumped in the bushes along OT Road. The discovery, made near the busy Uluberia Goruhata intersection, instantly brought back memories of the recent chilling Madhyamgram and Shobhabazar trolley bag cases that shook the entire state.
Local residents first noticed the suspicious-looking bag abandoned in the undergrowth and immediately alerted the Uluberia police station. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers opened the bag to find the body of a man, aged approximately 55 years, with his hands and feet tightly bound together. The police recovered the body and rushed it to the Uluberia Sarat Chandra Medical College and Hospital, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Initial medical examinations revealed a puzzling twist to the case, as investigators found no visible signs of external injuries or physical wounds on the body. The deceased, described as being of medium height, appeared extremely emaciated, weighing an estimated 35 kilograms, and was dressed in a standard shirt and trousers. This has led authorities to consider multiple angles, including whether the man succumbed to a severe, prolonged illness and was subsequently dumped by relatives to avoid cremation expenses, or if it is a case of meticulous foul play.
