A bomb was recovered from a road in Ward No. 127 under Sarsuna Police Station in central Kolkata, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming elections. The explosive had reportedly been lying unattended for a long time, creating fear among residents of the densely populated area. Police and the bomb squad were promptly deployed to secure the site and safely recover the device.
Local sources have named two individuals, Manik and Giri, as allegedly involved in planting the bomb. Residents claimed that the accused have previously carried out similar activities in the area to create unrest. Some locals also alleged that the accused have links with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), though police investigations are ongoing to verify these claims.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident to identify the motive and any accomplices. The swift recovery of the explosive prevented a potential disaster, but the incident has left the neighborhood residents on edge, highlighting security concerns in the run-up to the elections.
