A bomb was recovered from outside the house of Mamni Jana, a local BJP leader, in Nandigram’s Amgechiya village on Monday morning, igniting political tensions in the region. The discovery, which occurred in the Samasabad Gram Panchayat area, has led to accusations and counter-accusations between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
According to local sources, the fresh bomb was spotted outside Mamni Jana’s house early in the morning, triggering a wave of panic in the area. The BJP leader alleged that this was the handiwork of Trinamool-backed miscreants, claiming prior instances of attacks on her.
“A local woman reportedly saw two men on a motorcycle near my house late last night. When confronted, they fled. This morning, we found a bomb lying in front of my house,” said Mamni Jana. She also accused the Trinamool of orchestrating a planned attack against her, stating, “They have tried to harm me before. This is yet another attempt to silence me.”
However, the local Trinamool leadership has denied these allegations, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. A senior TMC leader stated, “The BJP is trying to malign our party with false accusations. We have no connection with this incident.” The police were alerted promptly and reached the spot to recover the bomb. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for placing it. Authorities are also looking into the claims made by Jana regarding previous threats and attacks.
