A bomb scare was triggered in Kolkata’s Harish Mukherjee Street on Tuesday morning after two unattended bags were found just 100 meters away from the residence of TMC General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee. Residents immediately alerted the police, leading to a swift response from Lalbazar officers and the bomb squad.
Upon receiving the report, Kolkata Police rushed to the scene, cordoning the area to ensure public safety. Special bomb disposal teams were brought in to inspect the contents of the abandoned bags. Security personnel maintained tight surveillance, as the proximity to Abhishek Banerjee's home raised concerns about a possible security threat.
After a careful and thorough examination, the bomb squad opened the bags under controlled conditions. Contrary to initial fears, no explosives or suspicious materials were found inside. Instead, the bags contained medicines and other miscellaneous items, ruling out any immediate danger.
