A major bomb scare gripped the Fajirbazar area along G.T. Road in Howrah after an unattended, suspicious bag triggered widespread panic among residents and commuters. Fearing the presence of an explosive device, the local community immediately alerted the police, leading to an atmosphere of intense anxiety across the busy locality. Responding with utmost urgency, a large contingent of the Howrah City Police along with the specialized Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the site.
Taking no chances with public safety, the law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and initiated wartime-level security protocols to handle the suspected object with minimal risk to human life. In a highly coordinated operation, the bomb disposal team securely retrieved the suspicious bag from the crowded market area and carefully transported it to the isolated banks of the Ganges River for safe inspection. The tense situation finally defused into relief when experts opened the bag under strict safety guidelines, only to discover that it contained nothing but fresh mangoes.
Following the anti-climactic resolution of the bomb threat, the Howrah City Police have launched a formal investigation into the incident. Authorities are currently scanning local CCTV footage from G.T. Road to identify the individual responsible for leaving the bag behind and to determine if it was a deliberate act of mischief designed to create public disorder.
