BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A major security scare unfolded on a holiday morning in Santiniketan after police recovered a large number of fresh bombs from a hotel on the outskirts of Bolpur. The recovery has raised serious concerns over the safety of tourists visiting the area.
According to police, information from secret sources early Sunday morning indicated that bombs were being planted inside a hotel located near the border area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a team comprising local police, a bomb squad and fire department personnel was formed and a raid was conducted. During the operation, at least 50 fresh bombs along with materials used for making explosives were recovered from the premises. A heavy police force has been deployed in the area, and the bomb squad has begun the process of deactivating the explosives. Sub-divisional police officer Ricky Agarwal confirmed the recovery, stating that decontamination work was underway and necessary safety measures were being taken as the hotel is located in a populated zone under ward number 1 of Bolpur Municipality.
Seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident, while police believe more individuals may be involved. The episode has also triggered political reactions, with the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party alleging links between the hotel management and local leaders of All India Trinamool Congress, intensifying the political debate surrounding the case.
