Bomb threat at CM Nayab Singh Saini’s Chandigarh office triggers massive security alert

A bomb threat call targeting Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s office in Chandigarh triggered a major security alert on Friday afternoon. Around 3:15 PM, authorities received an anonymous call claiming the presence of a bomb inside the Haryana Secretariat building, prompting immediate evacuation of the premises.

Security forces including the Chandigarh Police, Haryana Police, CISF, and CID quickly sealed the area. Bomb disposal squads and dog units were deployed both at the Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s official residence for thorough inspections. Fire brigade teams and ambulances were also stationed nearby as a precautionary measure.

The threat coincides with heightened security activity in the region, as a major inter-state mock drill involving forces from Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir is scheduled for May 31. The drill, aimed at testing readiness against cross-border threats, was initially delayed but is now being resumed amidst growing tensions.

Separately, the Ministry of Heavy Industries in Delhi received a similar bomb threat via email, warning of potential suicide IED attacks at the Udyog Bhawan. Authorities are investigating whether the threats are linked, and high alert has been declared across several government installations.
