A major controversy has surfaced in Bahraich, where a truck loaded with books meant for free distribution among students in government schools was found parked under suspicious circumstances near a junk shop. The incident came to light in the Ramgaon area, triggering serious questions about accountability and possible misuse of public resources.
According to officials, locals alerted the administration after noticing the truck stationed close to a kabadi dukaan. Acting on the information received on his official CUG number, District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi ordered immediate action. The truck was seized, and a preliminary investigation was launched to ascertain how government-issued books ended up at the location. The District Magistrate said the administration received information about a large quantity of government books, following which officials rushed to the spot. While the Education Department has claimed that its stock records are complete, authorities have now directed a detailed inquiry to determine the origin of the books and identify the district from which they were transported.
Sources indicated that the books were allegedly being moved for sale to a junk dealer, raising concerns over a possible supply-chain breach. The administration has ordered a thorough investigation into the entire matter, including transportation, storage and distribution processes, to fix responsibility and prevent similar incidents in the future.
