Brutal attack on women and her daughter with sharp weapon in Belgharia, both critical

A shocking incident occurred in the Belghoria's Prafulla Nagar area where a ninth-grade student of Khalsa Model School and her mother were brutally attacked by a local youth, Abhijit Dutta, while returning home from school. As they were passing through a tunnel, Abhijit, who was sitting nearby, suddenly launched an unprovoked attack on the girl, striking her with stones. The girl's mother, who tried to protect her daughter, was also seriously injured in the assault.

Both mother and daughter were initially rushed to a local private hospital by rescuers but had to be transferred to a private hospital in Kolkata as their conditions worsened. They are currently receiving treatment in critical condition.

The local residents, enraged by the attack, apprehended Abhijit and beat him before the Belgharia police arrived on the scene. The police arrested the youth and confiscated the weapon used in the assault. Abhijit was later taken to Sagar Dutt Medical College and Hospital for first aid.
