BSF flags Pakistani infiltration threat via Bangladesh, launches night vigil drive

The Border Security Force (BSF) has launched a night vigilance and awareness drive in border villages of Jalpaiguri following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. On Thursday, officials of the 93rd Battalion, led by Assistant Commandant Manoj Kumar, conducted a campaign in Jamadar Para village under Nagar Berubari Gram Panchayat in Jalpaiguri Sadar Block. During the campaign, villagers were advised to avoid stepping out between 7 PM and 6 AM unless necessary and to remain cautious during those hours. The BSF also explained the provisions of Section 163(2), which deals with security measures in border zones.

As part of the drive, BSF officials held a meeting in a local field with residents to discuss the situation arising after the Pahalgam incident and the heightened tension between India and Pakistan. Villagers were urged to stay vigilant to prevent any possible infiltration attempts through the West Bengal border via Bangladesh. BSF personnel repeatedly stressed the need to be cautious about unknown individuals in the area and warned against allowing unfamiliar persons into homes. They also instructed locals to notify the panchayat immediately if any suspicious movement or individuals are spotted.

Local residents expressed support for the BSF’s presence. Abdul Alam, a resident of the area, said, “BSF today made us aware. They are with us and remain very active here. They told us to inform the panchayat if we see any infiltrator from Bangladesh or notice any suspicious person.” Local administration has clarified that the awareness drive is part of routine precautionary activity and there is no cause for panic.
