A Bangladeshi smuggler was killed in a firing incident involving the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Haldarpara Border Outpost (BOP) of Battalion No. 32 on the India-Bangladesh border in Krishnagunge, Nadia district. The incident, which occurred around 12 noon today, saw BSF personnel engaging with a group of smugglers attempting to infiltrate Indian territory.
According to BSF sources, the smugglers came into sight of the BSF patrol. Upon confirming their intent to cross illegally into India, the BSF personnel challenged them. The situation escalated when the smugglers reportedly opened fire on the BSF. In response, the BSF also returned fire, leading to a crossfire. One individual was killed in the exchange, while several others sustained injuries and fled back to Bangladesh. The identity of the deceased Bangladeshi smuggler has not yet been confirmed.
Following the clash, BSF officials promptly arrived at the scene. The body of the deceased was recovered and transported to Krishnagunge Rural Hospital, where the doctor on duty officially declared the Bangladeshi citizen dead. Bullet marks were reportedly found on the body, which has since been sent for an autopsy as investigations continue into the incident.
