Border Security Force (BSF) personnel deployed along the India-Bangladesh border in North Bengal have recovered a jar filled with snake venom in the Hili area. The jar, bearing the tag "Made in France," is estimated to have a market value of Rs 13 crore.
According to sources within the BSF, a report of border smuggling was received on Monday morning in the Geshpur border post area of the Hili police station in the Dakshin Dinajpur district. Following this, a siege was conducted and a search operation was launched by the BSF personnel. During the search, a bulletproof jar with snake venom was discovered.
The jar has been handed over to the Balurghat Forest Department. Meanwhile, the smugglers managed to escape from the spot when the search operation began and are still being sought. The type of snake that the venom belongs to is still under speculation, but it is believed to be that of the cobra.
