The Border Security Force (BSF) nabbed a smuggler and a consignment of drugs after shooting down a suspected Pakistani drone near the international border in Amritsar.
According to BSF reports, BSF troops stationed near Dhanoe Khurd village of Amritsar noticed the buzzing of a drone on Saturday evening and shot down the suspected Pakistani drone. A black quadcopter model name 'DJI Matrice 300 RTK' was recovered by BSF personnel during a search operation conducted near Dhanoe Khurd village of Amritsar.
“On May 27 at about 2135 hours, Border Security Force troops deployed a deep area and heard the buzzing sound of a suspected drone in an area near Village – Dhanoe Khurd, Distt – Amritsar. As per the prescribed exercise, the troops immediately responded to intercept the drone by firing,” the BSF said in a statement.
Notably, this is the sixth drone that BSF men have recently shot down in violation of Indian airspace in recent times. Meanwhile, IB forces patrolling Dhanoe Khurd village spotted three people running towards the village to take shelter.
The suspects were chased by the BSF personnel and they caught one of the suspects carrying a bag that contained three packets of suspected drugs weighing 3.4 kilograms. The consignment also had an iron hook and four fluorescent strips, according to the BSF.
There are increasing cases of BSF troops intercepting a drone by firing in a border state.
