Tremors rock Kolkata as 5.6-magnitude earthquake strikes Bhutan
The second and final phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections is witnessing a robust display of democratic participation, with a voter turnout of 39.97% recorded across the state by 11:00 AM today. Enthusiastic voters have formed long queues since early morning across the 142 constituencies, signaling a high-stakes battle as the state decides its next government.
District-wise participation reflects a strong turnout across the board. Purba Bardhaman is currently leading with the highest voter engagement at 44.50%, followed closely by Hooghly at 43.12%. Other districts are also showing steady numbers, with Nadia recording 40.34%, Howrah at 39.49%, North 24 Parganas at 38.43%, Kolkata North at 38.39%, and South 24 Parganas at 37.92%.
