Panic gripped the Gosai Bazar area of Ward No. 5 under Chandrakona Municipality in West Midnapore district on Saturday morning after local residents spotted a large number of unclaimed voter identity cards lying inside a roadside drain. The discovery quickly drew attention, with people gathering at the spot as concerns mounted over how official documents could be discarded in such a manner.
As the news spread, tension escalated in the locality. Residents immediately informed the Chandrakona police station, following which police personnel rushed to the scene. The voter ID cards were recovered from the drain and taken into custody for further examination.
