The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has announced the renaming of CIT Park in Burrabazar, under Ward 22, to 'Parshuram Udyan'. This announcement, made by KMC MIC member Debasish Kumar under the direction of Mayor Firhad Hakim, not only underscores the cultural and religious significance of the area but also fulfills a demand that has persisted for many years.
The Rajasthan Brahmin Sangh and the local Brahmin community have expressed profound gratitude for this decision. Officials from the Sangh stated that for several years, there has been a continuous demand to name this park after Lord Parshuram, thereby honoring the religious and cultural identity of the community. This renaming is seen as a significant step towards recognizing and respecting the sentiments of a large section of the local populace.
Announcing the name change, MIC member Debasish Kumar remarked that this demand had been pending for a very long time, and he was extremely pleased that it could finally be realized today. Councillor Mahesh Sharma also expressed her joy on this occasion, stating that her organization had been continuously striving for this demand for the past 11-12 years.
