Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A major accident was narrowly avoided in Siliguri after a passenger bus climbed onto an under-construction flyover on Bardhaman Road early Tuesday morning. The incident took place around 4:30 am near Vishal Mega Mart, causing panic among passengers onboard.
According to local sources, the bus, reportedly operating on the Guwahati–Siliguri route and carrying a large number of passengers, suddenly lost control while moving along Bardhaman Road. The vehicle first hit a motorcycle before veering sharply and mounting the unfinished flyover structure.
The situation worsened when the bus’s front portion got stuck in an under-construction culvert. Both front wheels were found embedded inside the structure, preventing the vehicle from moving further. The driver’s sudden braking is believed to have averted a far more serious mishap.
Most passengers were asleep at the time of the accident. The loud impact jolted them awake, triggering panic as several passengers rushed out of the bus. No further details on injuries were immediately available.
