A private passenger bus overturned near Helipad More on the Nabadwip-Krishnanagar National Highway in Nadia district on Monday morning, injuring around 30 people. The bus was travelling from Bardhaman towards Krishnanagar via Nabadwip when its front wheel suddenly detached while crossing a road bumper, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred amid intermittent rainfall in the area since early morning. Following the crash, passengers were thrown off their seats and many sustained injuries. Locals and nearby commuters assisted in the rescue operation. All injured passengers were taken to Shaktinagar District Hospital. As per reports, several of them are in serious condition and are undergoing treatment.
The accident led to disruption of traffic on the highway for some time. The overturned vehicle was later removed from the road. No official statement has been issued yet on the condition of the bus or its maintenance history. An investigation into the mechanical failure and circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
