Police arrested Bunty Guh, a resident of Parsudih, who was accused of extorting city businessmen named Sonu Singh, a convict in the Upendra Singh murder case at Ranchi's Hotwar Jail.
In this case, Amit Chawla, a resident of Sidhgora, filed a complaint on July 5 at the Sidhgora police station.
Amit told the police that extortion demands were made over the phone in the name of Sonu Singh.
After registering a complaint, the police started an investigation following which the police arrested Bunty from Golf Green, Kolkata. Many cases were registered against Bunty in different police station areas of the city.
During interrogation, Bunty told the police that he came in contact with many criminals during his stay in jail. Meanwhile, he got the idea to demand blackmail on behalf of Sonu Singh.
He was released from prison on bail on March 23. After coming out of prison, he took the operator's number from the board outside the shops and then called that number and demanded blackmail.
Bunty demanded blackmail from Amit Chawla. In the process, after the news was published in the newspaper, he fled to Calcutta from where the police arrested him. Currently, the police have sent him into custody.
