Buxar and Supaul districts have emerged as leaders in implementing the Bihar Right to Services Act and the Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act, respectively, according to the latest rankings based on September 2024 performance. These rankings highlight the achievements of various districts in enhancing public service delivery and addressing citizen grievances.
Buxar district secured the top position in the Bihar Right to Services Act implementation, followed closely by Jehanabad in second place and Banka in third. This Act empowers citizens to receive essential public services within a designated timeframe, promoting accountability and transparency across various government departments. Currently, 153 services from 14 departments have been notified under this Act, ensuring that citizens have timely access to necessary services.
In the realm of grievance redressal, Supaul district topped the rankings, with Buxar and Banka taking the second and third positions, respectively. The Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act provides citizens with a legal framework to have their complaints addressed effectively. Bihar stands out as the first state in India to grant such a right.
Under this grievance redressal framework, 514 schemes, programs, and services across 45 state government departments have been notified, allowing citizens to seek benefits or relief and register their complaints. This dual approach not only enhances public service delivery but also fosters a culture of accountability and responsiveness within the state administration.
The continuous improvement in service delivery and grievance redressal reflects the Bihar government's dedication to ensuring that citizens' rights are upheld and that they have the necessary avenues for redressal and support.
