'CAA will never be withdrawn': Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a recent interview, reiterated the steadfastness of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), emphasizing that it will not be rescinded. The Home Minister said that 'no provision of the Citizenship Amendment Act violates the Constitution. Article 11 of the Constitution gives full power to the Parliament to make rules related to citizenship'

Amit Shah has clearly said in an interview that the CAA law will never be withdrawn. He said that 'ensuring Indian citizenship in the country is our sovereign right and we will never compromise on it.' He added CAA has been brought by the Modi government and it is impossible to take it back. He accused the opposition leaders of doing appeasement politics.

In response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's critique of the CAA notification, Shah launched a sharp rebuke, forecasting the imminent ascension of a BJP government in Bengal.

He warned against promoting infiltration through appeasement politics, asserting that distinguishing between refugees and infiltrators is crucial. Shah's remarks come amid heightened scrutiny over the timing of the CAA's implementation, with critics alleging political maneuvering ahead of upcoming elections. However, Shah dismissed these claims, reaffirming BJP's commitment to implementing the CAA, as outlined in its 2019 manifesto.
