The Calcutta High Court observed that no demolition can be carried out until the hearing in the matter is completed. The court stated that as per Supreme Court guidelines, no tannery or business activity can operate from the premises and no illegal construction can continue there. The judge further clarified that if any portion of the structure is found to be dangerously unstable, the municipality may remove only that section after discussions with the property owner and by following due legal procedure.
