The Calcutta High Court's single bench has reinstated Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Mithilesh Kumar Mishra's responsibility for investigating money laundering cases in West Bengal. This decision follows an earlier order relieving Mishra of his duties, which was issued by the same bench last month.
On Thursday, Mishra and the ED filed a petition to modify the previous order, leading to a closed-door hearing on Friday. The reinstatement means that three senior officials from the ED will now lead investigations into various money laundering cases in West Bengal, including allegations of corruption in school job appointments, recruitment irregularities in municipalities, cattle and coal smuggling, and other related matters.
