The deceased, Mohammad Feroze (52), was attacked by a thief named Javed Ahmed (29) during the incident. Feroze was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors.
The police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Feroze's son. The charges against Ahmed include theft and involuntary manslaughter. The incident took place around 7:30 AM when Feroze was washing his car. At that moment, the car key was inside the vehicle. While Feroze was filling water from a nearby tap, a young man suddenly entered the car and attempted to drive away. Feroze noticed the theft in progress and shouted for help, alerting the nearby residents.
In an attempt to prevent the theft, Feroze put his hand through the open driver's window and turned the steering wheel to the right, causing the thief to lose control. The car subsequently hit a light post on the side of the road. Feroze, trapped between the car and the post, sustained severe injuries to his right side. Despite being rescued and taken to the Medical College Hospital, Feroze succumbed to his injuries.
Residents apprehended the accused, Javed Ahmed, and handed him over to the Jorasanko police station. A case has been registered against Ahmed for theft and involuntary manslaughter. A
resident recounted, “I heard the driver was changing his mobile. At that time a thief came and took the car and left. When the car owner tried to stop it, he got hurt. He later died when he was taken to the hospital.”
