The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially declared the Class 12 Results for 2026 on Wednesday, May 13, ending the wait for nearly 18 lakh students nationwide. The overall pass percentage for this year stands at 85.20%, reflecting a slight decline from the 88.39% recorded in 2025. Students can currently access their digital scorecards through the DigiLocker and UMANG platforms, with official result portals like cbseresults.nic.in expected to go live for direct downloads shortly.
Continuing a long-standing trend, girl students have once again outperformed their male counterparts. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.86%, while boys achieved 82.13%, creating a notable performance gap of 6.73%. Geographically, Thiruvananthapuram emerged as the top-performing region in the country with a stellar 95.62% pass rate. Conversely, the Prayagraj region reported the lowest pass percentage at 72.43%, highlighting significant regional variations in academic outcomes this year.
To manage the heavy digital traffic, the Board has encouraged students to use alternative methods such as SMS services and the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) alongside official websites. More than 43 lakh students appeared for the combined Class 10 and 12 examinations this year, reaffirming the CBSE's role as one of the largest school-level examination systems globally. The digital marksheets provided today are provisional, and original certificates will be distributed through respective schools in the coming weeks.
