CEC Gyanesh Kumar to lead 3-day Election Commission visit to Kolkata from March 8

A high-level delegation of the Election Commission will visit Kolkata from March 8 to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. The three-day tour will be led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who will be accompanied by several senior officials of the Commission to assess administrative readiness, security arrangements, and coordination among authorities.

According to sources, the Chief Election Commissioner will arrive in Kolkata from Delhi on the night of March 8. The delegation will include Election Commissioners Dr. S. S. Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, along with Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Ganesh Bharti, Manesh Garg, and Pawan Kumar Sharma.

Several other senior officials will also be part of the visit, including Principal Secretary S. B. Joshi, Director Manoj C., Director General Ashish Goyal, Deputy Directors P. Pawan and Apoorva Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary Abhinav Agarwal, and Video Editor Ranjit Kumar Srivastava.

The Commission’s meetings will begin on the morning of March 9 with representatives of recognized national and state-level political parties. During this interaction, the Commission will hear concerns and feedback related to the voter list, election complaints, and the law-and-order situation in the state.

Following the political consultations, the Commission will hold detailed discussions with law enforcement and administrative officials, including IGs, DIGs, Police Commissioners, District Election Officers, and Superintendents of Police. On March 10, the delegation will meet the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police and may also interact with booth-level officers before addressing the media. Administrative sources indicated that the schedule for the Assembly elections may be announced after the visit.
