Chandannagar Police have arrested Tridip Kumar Mandal in connection with an ongoing passport fraud case. A team from Bhadreswar police station apprehended him from Sealdah station. Mandal, a resident of the Jangra area under Baguiati police station, is the fourth person arrested in this case. He was presented before Chunchura court today.
In January, police had arrested three others—Maha Imran, a temporary home guard from Chapdani; Biswajit Ghosh, a post office peon from Tarakeswar; and Mohan Saw, an incense stick trader from Baidyabati. Investigators revealed that the accused allegedly submitted forged documents to obtain multiple passports. They reportedly used the same Aadhaar number repeatedly to file new applications.
According to police sources, the accused exploited document verification loopholes to secure fraudulent passports. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger network and are expanding their probe. Further arrests and seizures are expected as part of the investigation.
