Chandrima Bhattacharya resigns from all TMC posts, says her loyalty was questioned

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from all party posts on Saturday and submitted her resignation to party chief Mamata Banerjee. Chandrima had been appointed head of the party's state-level committee on June 3. Her resignation comes less than a month after assuming the responsibility and has drawn attention within political circles due to its timing.

Despite the party's electoral defeat, Chandrima Bhattacharya had remained active in party affairs, regularly accompanying Mamata Banerjee, visiting Kalighat, and attending the party office. According to the sequence of events, Chandrima was present at the Trinamool Congress office in Metropolitan Building on Friday when leaders associated with the Ritabrata faction entered the premises. She left the office shortly after the incident and tendered her resignation the following day.

Following her resignation, Chandrima Bhattacharya stated that she had always tried to prove her loyalty and did not believe there had been any shortcoming on her part. She said she was deeply hurt after her loyalty was questioned, stating, "I always tried to prove my loyalty. I do not feel there was any shortcoming on my part. However, I was deeply pained when my loyalty itself was called into question."
