Mamata loses her temper, slaps own party worker during rally against Baruipur case
The protest march organized by the Kalighat faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) descended into absolute chaos right at its commencement on Wednesday. The rally was being held to protest against the recent minor rape and murder case in Baruipur. Although the Calcutta High Court had granted conditional permission for the procession to proceed from the Ballygunge Phari to the Hazra intersection, intense political friction disrupted the event.
TMC organizers alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers deliberately obstructed their designated route at the very beginning of the rally. Throughout the procession's path, BJP workers reportedly blasted "Jai Shri Ram" slogans over microphones to drown out the protest. Simultaneously, a large gathering of BJP workers assembled adjacent to the rally route, continuously chanting slogans labeling the marchers as "thieves."
The situation escalated dramatically as the procession neared its destination, leading to a highly volatile atmosphere at the Hazra intersection. Thick smoke covered the area during the high-voltage political face-off, presenting a major challenge for law enforcement trying to maintain order. Security personnel had to step in immediately to prevent the confrontation between the opposing political groups from turning into an all-out physical clash.
