The police in Kannur, Kerala, have registered a cheating case against cricketer S Sreesanth and two others based on a complaint filed by a local resident.
The complainant alleges that Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini, along with Sreesanth, took ₹18.70 lakh from him on various dates starting from April 25, 2019, promising to build a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, with the cricketer as a partner.
The complainant, Sareesh Gopalan from Choonda, claims to have invested the money after being offered a partnership opportunity in the proposed sports academy.
Sreesanth and the two others have been charged under IPC Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
