Parade begins at Red Road to celebrate India's 76th Republic Day
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a series of development projects in Saran district on Wednesday, focusing on healthcare and infrastructure. The event took place at multiple locations, including the Vishen Tola Medical College Hospital in Chhapra, with key announcements aimed at improving public welfare in the region.
The day's highlight was the inauguration of the Jaiprakash University Campus Medical College and Hospital in Chhapra. Constructed at a cost of ₹655.67 crores, the college is built on 25 acres and includes a 500-bed hospital. The state-of-the-art facility will admit 100 students annually for its MBBS program, with advanced infrastructure designed to cater to the needs of both patients and aspiring medical professionals.
Chief Minister Kumar also unveiled a new four-storey B.Sc Nursing College within the same campus. Built for ₹40 crores, the nursing institute will enroll 100 students annually, contributing to the growth of the state's healthcare workforce. The medical and nursing colleges represent a significant step forward in addressing the region's healthcare and educational needs.
In addition to healthcare projects, Nitish Kumar reviewed proposals to strengthen and expand the Chhapra section of NH 19 and to construct an elevated pathway from Doriganj market to Bishanpura. These infrastructure projects aim to resolve local traffic issues and improve connectivity in the area, aligning with the government’s broader development agenda.
During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with villagers at Mohammada and participated in community activities. He released fish seeds into a Jeevika pond and visited an Adarsh Anganwadi Center, where children greeted him with flowers. Nitish Kumar also spoke with women from Jeevika, appreciating their efforts in local economic development.
